VARIETY GOLD HEART RELAY

Updated: Jun 30, 2019

On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, we held the first Variety Gold Heart Relay in downtown San Francisco. We had such a fun time. The morning started off foggy, but by the afternoon the haze had burned off to a blue and sunny sky and a nice breeze cooled the riders in the Yerba Buena Gardens East where we had a view of the SF MOMA, some wonderful fountains, sculpture, and lots of people wandering by wondering what was going on! Collectively, our team rode an amazing 1364 relay miles.

This fun and unique event helps to promote inclusive riding for all abilities. We invited corporate teams of 10 each (smaller teams joined up to ride on Variety's team) to take turns riding stationary bikes to help raise funds for our FREEDOM Program. This very important program helps children with disabilities get a custom built adaptive bicycle and low-income children to receive their 'First Bikes'. The Variety Gold Heart Relay is “geared” towards raising funds so that kids can be kids. Open to riders of all abilities, this event brings companies together to provide much-needed equipment to kids who need it most!
