San Francisco, CA, May 13, 2008 – "ROCK BAND FOR CHARITY," a club event with video game competition and "live" music presented by Variety Children's Charity of Northern California at San Francisco's "12 Galaxies" on May 10th, has been deemed an unqualified success.
Executive Director Ellen Goodman described it as "an unprecedented first-time event, which raised thousands of dollars." She goes on to say "we could not be more pleased both in terms of the amount of money raised to help us in our efforts to help kids in need – and their families – here in Northern California, but also in exposing Variety to a new and vibrant part of the Bay Area community."
The Charity's Young Variety Division says the Bay Area "should not be surprised to see another 'Rock Band' Event later in the year, as well as more unique and innovative ways to combine a fun time with a way to contribute to a great cause."
Variety adds that the success of this event would not have been possible without the support of its sponsors, including Phuket Beer, Veev Spirits, Masssake Sushi, Weatherbill, Villagegreen Electronics Arts and Harmonix. Invaluable support was also provided by radio stations ALICE 97.3, LIVE 105, STAR 101.3, KFRC and MOVIN' 99.7.
Variety – The Children's Charity of Northern California's Vision is to provide relief from poverty so sick, disabled and at-risk children and their families can regain their power and access to freedom. Find out more about us at varietync.org
