San Francisco Rotary Club of San Francisco to Present Bike Build 2009

Bikes for Kids, a program of Variety Children's Charity Kids on the Go! Mobility Program partners with Rotary Club of San Francisco to present Bike Build 2009.
More than 100 volunteers, recipients, members and donors will gather at Esprit Park in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood on Saturday, September 12 for a one-day bike give-away to build 35 bikes for distribution to underprivileged children challenged by poverty living in San Francisco.

9:00am - 2:00pm: Esprit Park will become an amazing team building workshop as volunteers assemble bicycles. As the day progresses, the area becomes filled with bikes and kids.
10:30 - 11:30am: Bikes, kids, and building teams will fill the park as far as the eye can see during the height of the day's activities.
9:00am - 12:00am: Variety Children's Charity, Rotary Club of San Francisco are partnering to bring building teams and kids together who will participate in the bike-building and be fitted for bikes and helmets.

A program of the Variety Children's Charity, Bikes for Kids provides free bikes for children in-need in order to help them achieve better health and happiness. The program serves low-income children who are at high-risk for obesity and related health issues and whose families do not have the means to support an active lifestyle that includes regular exercise. Throughout the year, Variety Children's Charity organizes bike build events with dozens of volunteers coming together for one day of group bike construction, with children receiving a brand new bike and safety helmet. varietync.org
