2002 Tahoe Golf Tournament | Variety at Work
Fundraising through special events generates the funds needed to meet commitments to recipient organizations and creates increased awareness for Variety and its mission to support children in need. Some annual events have become a popular staple with many contributors and supporters, and new ideas exhibit the creativity of our staff and volunteers who are always striving for new ways to recognize and reward our contributors. All events are produced in-house and do not utilize the services of a paid event coordinator. Hundreds of Variety supporters commit time, products and services to ensure that all facets of each event work together to achieve the most beneficial results.

Our annual Gold Heart Sales kicks off this November and runs through to the end of the year. With the strong support of the Movie and Entertainment industry, the collectable Walt Disney design of Mickey's arm and Sorcerer's Apprentice wand is guaranteed to outsell our last sales drive. Our campaign will be promoted on billboards, cereal boxes, movie trailers and posters. We have stars such as Bette Midler and Jim Carrey, to name a few, endorsing Variety Gold Hearts Campaign (see enclosed promotional items from last year.) Paramount, Sony, Dolby Digital, Ford Motor Company and Best Buy are equally committed with a rewards program for theater groups meeting sales quotas. Together all of this hard work and dedication enables Variety to have collected over $800 million worldwide. Please join us in our Gold Hearts Campaign. The money raised from Gold hearts goes directly to funding programs that provide vital assistance to children's physical and emotional wellness.

2002 Tahoe Golf Tournament

This year's event went extremely well and raised essential funds to support our various programs. Even better, everyone enjoyed themselves! Golfers enjoyed stunning views of Lake Tahoe while competing for prizes, mingling with old friends and connecting with business associates. Our volunteers worked tirelessly to capture essential information needed to streamline event data and systems. Our registration, helpdesk and gift desk ran beautifully, as did the putting contest, closest-to-the-pin, the raffle and the auction events.
As you know, the quality of Edgewood is unsurpassed. It is one of the most desirable greens west of the Rockies and is rated as one of "America's Top 100 Golf Courses, by Golf Digest Magazine". Set along the shore of Lake Tahoe and amidst the pines and mountains of the High Sierra, Edgewood Tahoe is located at 6,200 feet above sea level. Every year you; our donors, distributors, vendors, sponsors and affiliates tell us that the Northern California golf tournament is one of the best tournaments in the U.S. You tell us the golf is great, the course is beautiful, the food is fantastic, it's a great getaway and most importantly it's for the kids.

Variety At Work

The members of Variety At Work do more than reach out. They take hold. Literally. Personally. Members of the program do more than make themselves useful; they make themselves available to children with special needs. Variety At Work members are people who feel most acutely that giving and doing walk hand in hand. Variety takes children to zoo' s, where they can touch, pet and feed the animals, to plays (where they meet the actors) or to ball games (where they can meet the players). Many large organizations choose to become associated with the "At Work" program because the program enables everyone in the organization to become involved and connected. Everyone involved in the program benefits discernibly, the child most of all. |
